What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas...almost

Well, At the last minute hubs decided that we were off to Vegas for the NAB [National Association of Broadcasters]. We were only to stay over one night. We just love Vegas and I was thinking that was way to short, but that was really all the time we had. OMG - I had a blast, we both did! It was such a great time and I got to enjoy G again, plucked away from his computer.

After getting all checked in at the Wynn we headed over to the convention center. However, we made a tiny stop over at the conciger's desk. Hubs suprised me and asked the lady at the counter to get us tickets to see Barry MANILOW! Yes, I am only 33. By the time we were off to the convention center I was smiling from ear to ear because we had tickets in the 3rd row, center of the auditorium!!!!

So, the convention was good. We saw an awesome short done by Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) on a new film camera that just came out called Red. I forget what it's called, but they are probably plugging it on the Red website www.red.com, some stills found here: http://www.red.com/gallery-still.shtml. In any case, that was the neatest thing we saw, but my mind was on getting to see Barry...

A little backstory so you can understand my excitement for Barry Manilow. When I was young, my Dad loved to listen to Barry. We sang alot of his songs at the top of our lungs and did the Copa cabana dance and smiled all the while. And we made fun of his nose and my Aunt just is NOT a fan and would always tease me about him.

So, when he was on AI a few weeks ago I mentioned to G that I would like to see him and Elton in Vegas. And voila, we got tickets!

OK - I was suprised that I went all 'fangirl' on him. Not quite like w/RDA, where the looks and smiles just melted you. But, I was singing right along with all the songs and would swear to you that his beautiful blues were staring right at me when he was singing. And then he pulled someone from the audience to do 'Can't smile w/o you'. Hubs was pointing to me to get him to do it...and as much as I wanted to, I was glad he didn't. I have to say the show was wonderful, he puts on a great performance and he makes the older ladies swoon. Yes, I was the youngest in the crowd, aside from the 10 year old boy that got dragged to the concert.

I've been singing "Who's been sleeping in my bed, getting what I get, when I'm not getttin' it." It's just stuck there with the visual of Barry Manilow strattling a mic stand while practically growling it at the ladies in the front row. I thought I was a Manilow afficianado and knew all the songs, but I hadn't hear that song. Really that one w/the visual just makes me ROTFLMAO!!! I love it!

Now, I'll leave you with a song to get stuck in your head and some pictures of our wonderful room at the Wynn Las Vegas - which I got for a great price on hotels.com

"You know I can't smile with out you, I can't smile without you. I can't laugh and I can't sing, I just can't smile without you!"

Oh yes, and I did get a mug for my tea and a hat and they took our pictures and I bought two of those albums... But for all I paid for that, I won back in Black Jack!
