Saturday Morning - aka, I hate cleaning the kitchen.

Saturday mornings should be either spent in bed, reading on the couch followed by a nap, lounging in front of the computer or being mellow with your morning tea. Wouldn't you agree? Well, apparently not at our house. The dogs insisted on getting up at 6:30 this morning, when they've been sleeping in until at least 7 on the weekdays. Actually, it was the puppies. Now normally I could go back to sleep and they would mellow, but Nooooooooooooooo, not this morning...this morning it's barking and whining and whining and barking...so I'm up and down either scolding or soothing and then feeding, because we all know that you can't get past 8am w/out feeding.

Somewhere in all that mess I ended up cleaning the kitchen! While waiting for the dogs to come back in after eating I paused to clean up our Friday night party and then I actually cleaned the front of each of the cupboards! As I'm cleaning all the dirt from where the dogs brush up against the cabinet I am thinking two things - I just didn't realize that people really had to do this kind of cleaning on a regular basis and my god, how do you fit all this in with what you really want to spend your time doing? Ok, yes, I've lead a sheltered life, my Mom always did all the cleaning and washing and ironing. Then when I grew up [pauses to get a bone for the puppy to chew on instead of my shoes] I kept my apt and house clean with [pauses for said bone again] little effort, as I made little mess and had no dogs or a husband. Then I got married and started having dogs and was able to hire a maid service to clean the house for me every two weeks. Now, due to budget cuts of the self employed...well, I'm the maid again and I've lived a sheltered life so I'm ill equipped. My wallet say domestically disabled and I am. I'm sure I'm not unlike most women who say "I hate housework", but I do know, they all do it better than me!

Did I mention that I'm having guests next week and then Mom has said she will come in April?

Ok, well, that's my random rant for this morning. However on a fun note, I did put up another St. Pat's picture on my photography site, so that I could promo pictures, so I'll share it here:
