You know you're dog people when...

The dog rides shotgun and your husband sits in the back seat.

LOL - Yesterday was our last day with Leg-O the three legged dog we've been looking after for a friend of ours. So, we decided we would take her out to lunch, but first, we had to run some errands. We all loaded into the truck for the first stop at the bank where we would drop G. I'm driving, G is shotgun and Lego is in the back on her bed. So, after dropping G off, L and I are off to get water. While I'm inside getting the water, Lego has decided to relocate to the front seat. She is looking at me quite matter of factly and saying, NO, I'm not moving to the back seat right now. So, I get in and back to pick up G. I was planning to put her back on her bed while we were waiting for G in the parking lot, however I never got the chance. There is G standing on the curb waiting to be picked up, trying to be nice so I can avoid the construction.

So, he looks into the window and it registers on his face that Lego is in his seat. Again, Lego looks him directly in the eye and seems to say "the back seat's all yours, I'm comfortable." So, he quickly responds by getting into the back seat! Lego looked very satisfied. So, we were off to get her favorite lunch, Chick Fil A. She's a nugget and waffle fry girl. We all sat in our respective places and had a great lunch. Lego was very well behaved, she polietly waited for her servings.

I took video of the whole thing...

PICTURES!!!!!!!

Do you remember the saga about my missing, possibly burned to a crisp pictures of my life?  Well, as it turns out, mine had already been scanned and the computer they were on was part of the saved computers from the fire!  So, after a long saga, some heart ache on both ends, the pictures arrived on DVD today!  So, time to share the dorky years of my life with you guys:

Here I am, Little Sara in Mexico.  I must have been thinking of a career in modeling at the time, look at that pose!

Hope you giggled a bit!

meme from NAZ

Ok...well, I've been in a music frame of mind today.  Totally not getting anything done.  Except for a project that a best friend of mine asked for involving music.  So, while I was choosing music for that, I remembered the meme on NAZ's journal and decided to do it too.  So, here are 25 song lyrics ....  You guess who and name of song and see how many you can get right.  i only got two of NAZ's.  And it's so hard w/o the music on some...

1.  If you want me let me know…..Follow your heart, your intuition, which will lead you in the wrong direction….

2.  What if I told you you’re all I waited for .  What if I held you tonight and I made you feel oh so right.

3.  Come to me now; lay your hands over me.  Even if it’s a lie say it will be alright.

4.  One pill makes you larger, one pill makes you small and the ones that mother gives you don’t do anything at all.

5.  On my way up north up on the Ventura, put back the hood and I was talking to you and I knew then it would be a life long thing, but I didn’t know that we could break a silver lining.

6.  Up on the watershed, standing at the fork in the road.  You can stand there and agonize until agony is your heaviest load.

7. Tell me what you want and yeah, I’ll do it baby, I promise right now.  Who propped you up when your stock of motivation had you on the ground….

8.it’s a long way down, it’s a long way down.  It’s a long way down to the place where we started from.  DOOOOOO… dooooo oooooooo

9. The king said hi to the guillotine. The royal astrologer was run out of breath.  He thought that maybe the rain would postpone his death.  Look in the sky but he look in vain…..

10.   Waiting for the night.  We’ll be waiting for the night to come.  We’ll be waiting for the night, we’ll be waiting for the night to come.

11.  Old James D. Monroe hands out flowers at the shopping mall hopes for money but all he gets is fear.

12.   I used to be so much more open minded.  And I used to like to fall in love.  And they tell me that I was so much sweeter and kind… But….

13.  Listen to the wind blow down comes the night.  Run in the shadows damn your love damn your life.  Break the silence dame the dark, damn the light.  And if you don’t love me now you will never love me again….

14.  Look you’re standing alone, standing alone.  How-ever I should have known.  Never before, never again, you will ignore, I will pretend. Never before, never again, you will ignore, I will pretend.

15.  I’m not sure who’s fooling who here as I ‘m watch your decay.  We both know you could deflate a 7 hurricane.  Seems like you and your tribe would rewrite the law.  Segregate the mind from body, from soul.  You give me yours, I’ll give you mine.

16.  You ran off and married but I love you still.  Lucille, please come back where you belong. .  Lucille, please come back where you belong.  I’ll be good to you baby, please don’t leave me alone.

17.  You walked in to the party like you were walking onto a yacht.  Your hat strategically dipped below one eye, your scarf it was apricot.

18.   Take me down, six underground.  The ground beneath your feet.  Way down low, nothing to go.  No where or way to meet.  I’ve got a head full of drought down here.

19.  I’m not the same as I used to be.  All the things you’ve heard seem hard to believe.  Haven’t always been good. Never really been bad.  Most times I’ve been happy, sometimes I’ve been sad.

20.   Cause the joke that you made in the bed that was made and I’m not going to fade as soon as you close your eyes. And you know it.  And every time I scratch my nails down someone else’s back, I hope you feel it.

21.  Baby when the bands and barkers go home.  They say Venus she rises from the foam  She dances on air and laughs at the moon and watches young loves in fiery dunes.  Are you willing to wait for the miracle. Willing to wait it through.  Are you will to wait for the miracle or don’t you believe they’re true?

22.   I’m holding on your rope.  Got me 10 feet off the ground.  I’m hearing what you’re saying but I just can’t make a sound.  You tell me that you need me then you go and cut me down.

23.   It’s 5 oclock in the morning and your just getting in .  a knock upon the door. A voice sweet and low says who is it.  She opens up the door and lets you in.  And never once does she say where have you been.

24.  The woman collapses on a Sunday morning she got up from the kitchen table, folded the newspaper and turned off the radio.  Those creatures jumped the barricade and headed for the sea, sea.

25.  We can say what we mean and mean what we say.  We don’t like to mess around.  But were’ there to pull each other up when we’re fallin’ down.

NOW, if you want to pass it on - open your iTunes or equivalent and put it on shuffle.  Then the first 25 songs - write down the lyrics post for people to guess...

I think I'm going to scream

if I get one more set of address labels in the mail!  At first, I thought it was really kinda neat and I needed them.  But it seems I get a set every week!  I thought, well, I shouldn't waste them, I'll just use them for everything.  But HELLO, I pay my bills online and I send alot of email, so that doesn't leave alot of room for one set of labels each week.  At this rate, I'll have to write daily letters to all my friends in order to get rid of all of them!

So - there you go....

Emma Turns 2! and a few other things....

Here she is in the first weeks with us. Already displaying her want to do Agility!

Now, here she is at two - imitating Dunc.  But don't let the picture fool you, she's no where near as mellow as he...

Here she is with the flash in her eyes:

And of course when Mom sneaks up on her with the camera:

You would have thought that I might actually groom my girl for her birthday.  If I could keep her out of the pool long enough to do it...I would!

In other news, post birthday celebration, we went out to lunch with our friends Vicki and Dean.  They are Emma's 'Grandparents' and they are the ones who do the beautiful boxes for our boys who have past away.  They brought us Duncan's beautiful box and sister Tessie had even helped with the box by putting a heart into it for her brother.  So, I took a picture of where our boys are now:

I just love the boxes, they are so perfect!

And finally, last, but not least.  We still have Leg-O!  She just loves the bed under the piano....

More later...when something exciting happens!

What's been up lately

It's been a busy little week.  Starting on Wednesday morning bright and early I ran off to the park to take some more pictures for the Arizona Border Collie Calendar.  I met Nia and Fallon and they were a trip!  Very cute.  Here's one of the out takes - this is Nia overshooting the fribee.

On Wednesday we went to an agility fun run with Casey and Emma!  I couldn't believe that Gary came and played with Casey!  They did great.  Emma is still a beginner so we did our very own thing on course.  I realized that the first time I was just so nervous I didn't really practice anything that we did in practice!  i was pleased, Emma followed me and came back to me, but I made some mistakes and I didn't realize it until someone told me.  You see, this is what I need to conquer, my agility ring nerves.  I don't have them in conformation anymore, but they are blinding in the agility ring!  So, the second time in, I actually did several things that we do in class and Emma followed along nicely and did excellent!  So, I'm quite happy!

On Thursday night I went to our agility club teachers meeting.  Everyone has been interested in what I've been having for breakfast since I keep churning out awesome ideas for the coming year.  I wrote a skit on why people need to bring their crates to class featuring a girl like the ones who prance around a boxing ring with the round number signs.  We might even do a video version of it if we get spunky.

Today I ran over to Travel Hounds and picked up $$ for the foundation which was cool and ended up staying for awhile and visiting with L.

Tonight is the last BSG and season finally of Dr. Who.  I was taken aback that this was the last week for BSG.  They have alot of wrapping up to do.

OH...yes, and we have Leg-O the 3 legged dog visiting with us until the end of the month!  She's so funny.  It's nice to have 4 dogs again.  I actually think that she noticed that Duncan is gone and has missed him.  They used to lay around together....

Ok....off to figure out dinner and Sci Fi Friday!!!!

You were lying with you should have been truthing

These and other great lyrics for the Friday sing along!

That gem is from These Boot Are Made for Walking by  Nancy Sinatra.

Right now, the oddest follow up song to Nancy is Julie Andrews singing a few of my favorite things and in case you forgot...

When the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I'm feeling sad, I simply remember a few of my favorite things and then I don't feel SOOOOOO bad

Here we go:
Rain drops on roses, whiskers on kittens
cream colored ponies and cream colored poodles...
Girls in white satin sashes, silver white winters that melt into spring...
I really couldn't keep up with typing, man she has alot of favorite things!  I don't remember putting this song in my iTunes but apparently I did.

Now we are on to Elton John - an 80's song of his - Sacrifice.  Two hearts living in 2 separate worlds.

Next time I have an interesting pair up...I'll bring you back into my Friday sing along....

Ok Paula Cole's Throwing Stones to Tangerine Dream's Twin Soul Tribe.  Let's see, well, Paula Cole leads off with "You call me a bitch in heat and I call you a LIAR.  We'll throw stones till we're dead."  Tangerine Dream is the new age group that I used for background music in my news package when I learned how to direct news in college....

Let's see what follows Melissa Ethridge's California.  While we wait and sing along, I'll tell you about the song.  When I got the CD, I put it on the speakers and I was grooming a dog.  In my [sarcasm] fabulous voice [/sarcasm]  I began to sing along - CALLLLL A FORNIA.  The dog just looked at me like I was the strangest person in the world.  The next time I had Emma up on the table and sang it to her and she looked at me the same way and then wagged her tail.  So, maybe she likes my singing....but more likely, she was laughing at me.  So, now every time we go to an agility thing, it's become Emma and I's agility song.  "In California, I am almost free.  Rescue me."  :)  Tori Amos comes on with "I think it's perfectly clear we're in the wrong band."  ROTFLMAO.

Can you guess this one?  "I know you know every desperado and sharpshooter."  You may have guessed the Eagles but alas, you would be wrong.  Now, reconsider for a second and I'll point directly at my friend Vicki right now  and say - your daughter would probably know the artist who is singing this.  "Balmy day, Sweet Sangria...." 'Yeah you think about that, what you believe in.  It matters not to you and me what you believe in."  Ok, Ok...I'll stop typing with the song and tell you who it is.......Miss Tori Amos singing Sweet Sangria.  Now followed by........iTunes choice - Nobody Does it Better by David Sanborn.....hummmm strange mix....

Ok now I hit the fast forward button 5 times and came up with (get out of your chair and dance now....)   You Can Do It from the Tragic Kingdom cd of No Doubt......   OOOO oooo OOO.....   :)  If I were only on so you think you can dance....but then again...I can't dance....

A friend of mine received a text from me yesterday and she called me back saying....OK...that was the first stream of consciousness text message that I've ever received...  That's what I've been doing in this post, I'm pretty sure.  I really feel like I'm in BSG listening to the Cyclon's hybrid as it babbles out non sense and then yells JUMP!

Next Post...

More of the ABCR calendar photo shoots

Yesterday was an ABCR photo shoot I'd really been looking forward to, it was with Cathy and her dogs. Except unlike the other photo shoots, where it was get in, get out and we're done - this one we planned as an all day photo shoot involving time at the lake with husbands and the other dogs as well. We only brought out Emma, since I was "working" and wouldn't be very helpful in the handling of all the other kids. Also, Emma and Shea are competitors. In fact, we hope to take a class together soon to work on dancing - to incorporate into our other dog sports. So, while Shea was on her photo shoot, little Miss border collie in Golden clothes was playing with 3 bc's and 2 mixes and she got along with them swimmingly.

We started out at the house taking some awesome pictures of Shea grabbing big air as she did her disc routine:

Then we got Midge to do her expert herding - Here she is waiting for her ducks to be released so she can show us her awesome talent:

Ducky )

Then we headed off to Lake Pleasant to try to get some cool water and beach shots. As luck would have it, since we got out there so late, it was very hard to get shots with good backgrounds. But here is where Emma got to play with Shea and the others. She just had a ball!

Shea and Emma's Water Entry )

As we headed home into the sunset Emma fell asleep sitting up in the back seat of the car.  G tried to get her to lay down, but she wouldn't.  So, she literally fell asleep sitting up - her head was hanging and her eyes closed.  And when we got home and settle back in, she fell fast asleep on one of the beds and didn't get up until it was time to go to bed and then she went straight for her crate, no objections.  She was one tired puppy but had a great time with the border collies on another successful ABCR calendar shoot!

And One Time at Ranch Camp....

Yesterday Cathy, Marilee and I ventured up to Flagstaff to do a photo shoot for the Arizona Border Collie Rescue calendar.  We were in search of snow but on the way we found some Gorillas in the Mist, some Ranch Camp stories and they learned to enjoy the art that is a pointless story.  We've decided that as part of the calendar fund raiser we need to charge money for people to come along on these photo shoots we end up having so much fun!

The day started out with me driving up to Cathy's house in 65 degree weather where I met her ducks.  Yes, she has ducks, she's a herding home now.  Last year I was introduced to the world of herding while working on this calendar and I got to see sheep and goats being worked.  Now, I've seen it all, ducks being worked is just a hoot to watch!  And coming from a family of Golden Retrievers and to walk into the world of Border Collies is just such a difference.  I'm used to goofy, showy Goldens and BC's are intense bundles of energy with drive that is beyond belief.  It's really neat to step into a different dog world.  I enjoy seeing what the difference is in what the dog is bred to do.  I highly recommend it!

Then we were off, three girls and a dog catching up on life in the fast lane.  C told us stories of Ranch Camp - which if you've seen American Pie and the line from that movie "And one time at Band Camp..."  - C had taken that line over.  I was the queen of pointless stories - still giggling to the high heavens about the French mistake I made the other day about RDA having taken his head off and held it in his hands.  And M was there to laugh at us both.

Miss Faith relaxing in her trailer awaiting the next round of shots!

We made it to the Mickey D's in Flag to meet up with our other models for the day.  By the time we got there it was time to put on the sweat shirts as it was 38 degrees.  (Les femmes met un chandail)  As we went up the mountain the temperature gauge read 32.  So we parked on the side of the road up in Snowbowl and this is what we found!

The Aspen trees were beautiful! And the dogs just had a ball in the snow running up and down the mountain!

While we were out it did start to snow a bit and when we went to download the photos in the car and warm up, it started a mini blizzard for about 15 minutes. So we had good timing.

Here's another spot that I chose and told Faith's Mom that I wanted her to stand in the middle of this opening and be a wolf.  Of course she just looked at me like "yeah right".  I was referring to all those National Geographic pictures you see of the wolves in between the trees.  So, she starts to walk straight up the middle when I call her back.   Being the high maintenance photographer I am, I made her and Faith wander through the woods on the right side so as to not mess up the snow in front.

Here's the spot.  Behind the second log.

All in all, it was a fun day in the snow in the month of MAY!  We took a few more shots at a non snow spot in Flagstaff and then headed for home.  Well, actually heading for 0:beer:30 and BBQ at Kick Ass BBQ in Black Canyon City.  It's a great little place off the side of the highway with sawdust on the floor and yes, kick ass BBQ!

Here's the last of the snow pics:

Two of the BC's actually jumped up on top of the big rock on the left!  Way cool.

Ehhhhh

Well, today has been a pretty uneventful day.

It has started off to be a really nice, yet cold day.  Je porte un chandail.  ( I wear a sweater)  At least I hope that's what it says, as I've been learning to use world with l'homme (a man) or la femme (a woman), so sometimes I go off lesson and try to remember what I was taught in high school.  My lessons are going wonderfully over on the GW thread that I'm applying my Rosetta Stone lessons to.  I giggled my little butt off this morning when I found out that I had made a proper sentence, but instead of saying that he had his head in his hand, I said something more like he'd taken his head off and was holding it in his hand!  I really laughed about this quite awhile, thank you Anakind.  I am sitting her still laughing and it's been several hours since I first found out about it!

Anyway, back to the weather.  After one 110 degree day we've gone done to 52 degrees!  I feel like I'm on vacation in Alaska!  ;)  And it is that time of the year where all the baby birds are finding their wings.  Or not.  Emma has brought me 3 baby birds in three days.  Two have lived to possibly be carted off by a cat, but one was DOA.  But she gets points for that one as it was neatly placed at the back door right where I would step on it should I have actually stepped outside at  6:30 in the morning.

So, let's see....I'm off to Flagstaff tomorrow to shoot some more of the Border Collie Rescue Calendar.  It's going to be wild, it's May and there is snow up there from the storm that just came through so we will go shoot some shots up in the snow!!!  It should be a fun day!

I guess that's it for now,
Au Revoir mes amies!

AI tonight

Well, we watched the David's face off last night.  I thought the opening with the boxing theme was very cool!  Cook did a great job channeling a boxer, while Archie was being a teenage goofball.

Anyway, I enjoyed the evening, I thought both of them did a great job.  Clive Davis picked out kick a$$ songs for both of them to showcase themselves during.  Vicki is happy that Cook covered the U2 song, finally an idol does U2 and does it well!  And Archuletta really did a good job with Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me.  I mean, that was just as good a choice for him as Imagine was the first time he did it.

Normally I agree with Simon, he's usually right on, but I just couldn't agree with him that Archuletta was a knock out over Cook.  I think he did really well, but I think Cook showed us so much more versatility and performance.  He really is the package when it comes to the AI being a marketable one.  And I so didn't agree with Simon saying that Cook should have done Billie Jean again.  I don't think Archuletta should have done Imagine again.  Yes, they both did them well, the first time. I don't tune in to AI for re-runs.  I don't tune in to see a song I've heard before.  If I like it, I'll d/l it from iTunes!  But I want to see new songs, there are TONS out there to choose from.

So, I felt like a tween last night, as I dialed in for Cook for two hours or so.  I started while I was watching AI (we Tivo'd) and continued through Hell's Kitchen.  Gotta love Hell's Kitchen.  It's just soooooo different, to me anyway.

Of course, I was the one who thought Bones was a shocker of a season finally, when a friend of mine didn't think so.  And House was on track to be a really good season finally, but the second half was a let down because I was disappointed that they killed off Wilson's happiness.

Ok...TV rant over for today.  I'll be disappointed tonight when Archie wins AI because Cook would do better as the AI but we'll still see Cook, I'm sure he'll have a career close to what Daughtry has.

Dear [info]taikowinds
I don't really know how to tell you this, but your nostrils are insulting. I think I realized it when I quoted Santa under the bus and I saw you carve your initials into my Kid Rock collection. I'm sure you're Masochistic enough to understand That Extreme Home Makeover sucks.  I'm returning your memories from the military service to you, but I'll keep your collection of butterflies as a memory. You should also know that I told in my confession today about the incarnation as an eskimo.
